Rozy Yards
I built Rozy Yards for a three grandsons in 2015. Here are seventeen different views of Rozy Yards.
Rozy Yards was patterned after Fenway Park in 1926. That was the year when there had been a trio of fires that had destroyed the left field wooden bleachers.
I used pictures of Fenway Park in 1927 to create the outfield wall design and the design of the center field and right field outfield seats.
Rather that using two die-cast metal baseball team that cost as much a $500, I decided to make the two baseball teams out of 3/8″ x 3/8″ strips of modeling wood.
Around the ballpark, I put up pictures of the three World Series victories that the Red Sox enjoyed in 2004, 2007 and 2013.
In addition, on the outside of the left field wall, I put the covers of the Sports Illustrated magazines of these three World Series victories and four souvenir tickets stubs I have kept over the years.
One of those ticket stubs is to the longest 9-inning game by time played in the history of the major league baseball.
That game was the second game of a doubleheader that lasted 4 hours, 45 minutes played between the New York Yankees and the home team Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston, on August 18, 2006. The Yankees won the game, 14-11. My son, Carl, and I stayed until the end.
Lastly, I put three signs around the park: Boomer, Cheech and Ryguy. These are the nicknames of my grandsons. I gave Rozy Yards to them for Christmas in 2015.
